Search Engine Optimisation

SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation, is the technique of making your website visible to search engines, namely Google. SEO is a form of online marketing and, if done correctly, can be powerful in putting your site in front of the eyes of your customers.

White Hat SEO

The techniques that I use are all based on a solid understanding of Search Engine Optimisation. I ensure that the foundations of your site are set up and I will also help you to adopt a continious improvement philosphy to keep your website up to date and relevant. This ensures that your website stays in the position that you have worked hard to get to.

Some companies use Black Hat methods, offering quick gains. This is normally done by keyword stuffing (putting loads of phrases on the website even if they are not relevant, just to get visitors) and writing content specifically for search engines, not for visitors to the site. The companies then charge you lots of money to maintain your position. I would recommend you avoid this approach at all costs, especially as Google has become savvy towards recognising this technique and penalising sites.

Analytics

Once your website has been optimisated for search engines there are measures to take in order to improve traffic to your website. The first step is to analyse your traffic to see where you are getting your visitors from, and how many. This data can be broken down into different subsets of data over certain periods and is very flexible.

Google Analytics

Search engines calculate your ranking based on a number of criteria such as meta data, relevant content and whole host of other things. It’s impossible to go through everything, especially as Google keeps some things secret.
